More than a game

Skills that follow them off the board

Chess is a playground for the mind. Each lesson grows real abilities your child uses at school and at home.

Focus

Sitting with one problem, thinking it through, and not giving up — attention that transfers to homework.

Logic

If I do this, what happens next? Cause-and-effect reasoning that makes maths and science click.

Patience

Slowing down before moving. Chess gently teaches that the best answer is worth the wait.

Planning

Thinking two or three moves ahead — building a plan and adapting when things change.

Confidence

Winning gracefully, losing bravely, and learning that effort beats talent. Real self-belief.

Social skills

Friendly small groups: taking turns, encouraging others, and making friends who love the same thing.

Champions in the making

A real teacher

Why a live coach beats a self-paced app

Apps are great for solo puzzles. But a child learns fastest when a caring human notices, explains and cheers them on.

WhiteKnight Academy

A real coach, live

  • Spots mistakes a child can't see themselves
  • Lessons paced to your child, not an algorithm
  • Real encouragement and accountability each week
  • Friends in a small group — social, not solo
  • Progress a parent can actually see and trust
A self-paced app

Alone with a screen

  • Repeats the same mistakes unnoticed
  • No one to explain the "why" behind a move
  • Motivation fades once the novelty wears off
  • More screen time, on their own
  • Hard to know if they're really improving
A real school, built as a product

A complete platform, not just video calls

Much of online kids’ coaching is a bare video call behind a “leave your number” form. Here, the live lesson is the heart — and everything around it is built into one platform.

Live lesson room

Video, voice and a synced chess board in one screen — the coach and the group see and move the same pieces, live.

Puzzle homework

Coach-set puzzle sets between lessons, matched to your child’s level — ten focused minutes at a time.

Automatic game analysis

The games your child plays are analysed automatically, so the coach sees exactly what to work on next.

Parent dashboard

Rating, skills and notes from the coach after every lesson — you always know the hour is doing something.

Apps on iOS & Android

The WhiteKnight app travels with your child — homework, puzzles and progress on any phone or tablet.

Good questions

Parent FAQ

We welcome children from absolute beginner level. Your child is grouped with others at a similar age and level, so lessons always feel just-right — never too easy or too hard.

Yes — around six is a lovely age to start. Chess builds focus, patience and confidence at exactly the age those skills are forming, and a patient coach introduces one idea at a time so it feels like play, not schoolwork. Complete beginners at five or six are very welcome.

Not at all. Complete beginners are very welcome — many of our students start not knowing how the pieces move. We also have groups for improvers and competitive players.

New students get their first month of weekly lessons (one lesson a week) for just $5. After that, the normal weekly price applies. Want two or three lessons a week? Those plans bill in full from the start. You can cancel anytime before renewal — no contract, no fuss.

Across the market, small-group classes for kids typically run $20–$40 per lesson and private coaching $30–$100+ per hour. Our weekly plan includes the live lesson plus homework puzzles, game analysis and the parent dashboard — and your first month is $5. Live prices in your currency are in the pricing section above.

Small by design — a maximum of five children per group, so every child gets real attention from the coach. One-to-one coaching is also available on request.

Just a laptop or tablet with a camera and internet. Lessons run live on video, and homework puzzles are set on Chess.com or Lichess — both free to use.

Yes. Every coach is an experienced chess teacher, background-checked and trained in child online safety. Lessons happen in private, moderated video rooms.

An app gives your child puzzles; we give them a teacher. A real coach teaches live every week, notices recurring mistakes and explains the “why” — and around the lessons sits a complete platform: an interactive lesson room with a synced board, puzzle homework, automatic game analysis, a parent dashboard, and iOS/Android apps for practice on the go.

Absolutely. Your parent dashboard shows their rating climbing, skills growing, and notes from the coach after lessons — so you always know how things are going.

You can cancel anytime from your account in a couple of clicks. No phone calls, no retention scripts. If a plan ever stops fitting your family, you’re free to leave.
