Frequently asked questions
White Knight Academy memberships combine live small-group coaching, a structured 7-level chess curriculum, and training tools that help you improve step by step. Below you’ll find clear explanations of what each feature means, what’s included in each plan, and how monthly vs yearly billing works (including the 7-day free trial).
What’s the difference between Monthly and Yearly membership?
Monthly billing renews every month and you can cancel anytime. Yearly billing is the same plan and inclusions, but billed once per year (often at a better overall value). Your access and coaching format stay the same — only the billing period changes.
What does “7-day free trial” mean?
The 7-day free trial gives you access to the membership during the first 7 days without being charged upfront. If you continue after day 7, your selected plan is billed automatically (monthly or yearly, depending on what you chose). If you cancel during the trial, you won’t be charged.
When will I be charged after the free trial?
If a plan includes a 7-day free trial, the first charge happens after the 7th day. After that, billing repeats on the same cycle (monthly or yearly).
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. You can cancel your membership at any time from your account dashboard. After cancellation, you keep access until the end of the current billing period (monthly or yearly), unless your checkout terms state otherwise.
Can I switch plans later (Trial → Standard → Elite)?
Yes. You can upgrade anytime to unlock more coaching minutes, deeper curriculum access, and advanced tools. Your progress remains in your account, so you don’t “start over”.
Which plan should I choose?
Trial is best if you want to test the format and get a clear next-step recommendation.
Standard is best for steady weekly progress with full training tools.
Elite is best for serious growth with Grandmaster input and monthly 1:1 coaching.
What is “Live coaching (small group)”?
Live coaching is an online lesson with a coach and a small group (usually 2–4 learners). It focuses on real improvement: guided practice, feedback, and learning how to think during a game (not just memorizing moves).
Plan difference: Trial includes a short monthly session; Standard and Elite include weekly 50-minute sessions.
What is a “Grandmaster small-group session”?
This is a special group training led by a Grandmaster (or top-level coach). It’s designed to upgrade decision-making: calculation habits, critical positions, and practical tournament thinking.
Plan difference: Included in Elite only.
What is “1:1 private coaching”?
A private 50-minute session focused only on you (or your child): personalized feedback, targeted training plan, and correction of recurring mistakes based on your games.
Plan difference: Included in Elite (monthly).
What does “Coach support between lessons (chat/Q&A)” mean?
Between live lessons you can ask questions (for example: “What went wrong in this game?”, “Which opening should I play?”, “How do I stop blundering?”). Coaches reply with short explanations, next steps, or references to the right lesson/drill.
Plan difference: Standard = basic support; Elite = priority support.
What is “Personal level assessment & training roadmap”?
A structured evaluation of your current level (strengths + gaps) followed by a clear improvement roadmap: what to learn next, what to practice, and how to measure progress.
Plan difference: Trial = light assessment; Standard = full roadmap; Elite = advanced roadmap + deeper personalization.
What is the “7-level chess curriculum”?
Our curriculum is a step-by-step learning path from beginner fundamentals to advanced play. It covers: piece movement → basic checkmates → tactics → openings → endgames → strategy → tournament preparation.
Plan difference: Trial = beginner access; Standard = beginner + intermediate; Elite = full access (beginner → advanced).
What is the “Interactive training platform”?
A practice system with puzzles, drills, guided tasks, and progress tracking. It helps turn lessons into real skill (pattern recognition, calculation, and consistency).
Plan difference: Trial = limited tools; Standard & Elite = full tools + tracking.
What is the “AI chess assistant”?
An analysis helper that supports training by reviewing games, identifying recurring mistakes, and recommending what to study next (tactics themes, endgame focus, opening fixes).
Plan difference: Standard = limited AI features/usage; Elite = full AI support.
What is included in the “Chess library”?
A curated library of learning materials: annotated games, PDFs, studies, and recommended resources matched to your level. The goal is “less noise, more signal” — you get what’s relevant now.
Plan difference: Trial = starter library; Standard = full library; Elite = full library + advanced packs.
What is the “Game database”?
A collection of model games and master examples used for learning patterns: typical plans, tactical motifs, and endgame technique. This helps you learn “what good chess looks like” for your level.
Plan difference: Trial = limited access; Standard & Elite = full access (Elite is more curated).
What are “Weekly level-based tournaments (community)”?
Friendly competition sessions grouped by level so learners can apply new skills under real game pressure. It improves confidence, reduces blunders, and makes training more practical.
Plan difference: Included in Standard & Elite.
What is “FIDE Online Arena support”?
Guided help for learners who want structured online competition: setup support, preparation guidance, and post-event review suggestions (what to fix next).
Plan difference: Standard = guided access; Elite = deeper coach support for events.
What does “Mobile app access” mean?
Access to training and learning materials from mobile devices (where available), so you can practice puzzles, review tasks, and stay consistent even with a busy schedule.
Plan difference: Included in Standard & Elite.
What are “Certificates” and when do I get them?
Certificates confirm completion of specific learning milestones (for example: finishing a level or completing a defined training track). They’re designed to motivate progress and document learning outcomes.
Plan difference: Included in Standard & Elite.
